Migrating a VM with Windows from VMWARE to Proxmox

I tried to do a migration on a home server from VMWARE to Proxmox. Whether I used the import procedure directly in Proxmox, using Starwind, or converting the VMDK to Proxmox, the machine still refused to start and kept wanting to fix something. I started to suspect that something was set up incorrectly on the Proxmox side.
I don’t know about other versions of Windows, but W2012R2 doesn’t handle anything other than IDE/SATA.
